Summer Camp Programs

Welcome to the 19th season of YMCA summer camp. Licensed child care camps begin June 18th and end September 3rd.

The YMCA is pleased to offer both overnight and day camp programs in your community this summer. Conveniently located in schools, each day camp varies in theme and is packed with age-appropriate activities, crafts, games, and summer fun to nourish the whole child in spirit, mind, and body! We are proud of our curriculum based on the Y’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. Summer adventures start here! 

Registration Information

Registration will open on March 15th and will take place at Briggs Community or Olympia Downtown YMCA branches and the Child Care Office. Registration for families assisted by the State will take place at the Child Care Office. Current Child Care participants may also register for summer camp online.

*Financial Aid is available through the Child Care Office. Current participants and new applicants must contact the Child Care Office.

IMPORTANT: Those who are unable to pay the full amount up front may opt to pay the required deposit ($15/week for day camps, and $100 for Camp Bishop and OPAC: Into the Wild) at time of registration. The remaining balance is to be paid in full by the first Wednesday prior to the week of camp.

Chehalis Location (Starts June 21st, 2010):

Camp Discovery
(Entering grades 1-6) Cascade Elementary, Chehalis
Children participating in the Camp Discovery program will explore science, sports, and creativity with a variety of healthy fun activities, enthusiastic staff, and unique experiences.  This program will provide its own exclusive curriculum where we promise a safe environment, the opportunity to exercise the imagination, and the wish of creating life-long memories.

Yelm Location (Starts June 21st, 2010):

Operation Imagination
(Entering grades 1-6) Prairie Elementary, Yelm
If you’re looking for a camp designed for creative and imaginative minds, look no further! Operation Imagination, located in picturesque Yelm, promises to integrate creative arts, drama, and imaginative play in a fun, diversified setting.

Tumwater Locations (Start June 18th, 2010):

Adventure Camp
(Entering grades 1-6) Michael T. Simmons Elementary, Tumwater
In this theme-oriented camp, kids will enjoy multi-week events such as Safari Days, International Cooking, and Fun with the Arts! Adventure Camp is all about making new friends, trying new things, and creating memories. Other highlights include active game play, arts and crafts, character building exercises, and exploring science.

K-2 Camp
(Entering grades 1-2) SPSCC Campus
All the great summer camp activities you would typically expect but specifically geared for younger kids. These “Junior Campers” get to share in many of the same exciting fieldtrips and activities as their older counterparts but in an age-appropriate environment. Our program is specially designed for small group participation allowing for each camper to receive personal, one-on-one attention.

Olympia Locations (Start June 22nd, 2010):

Camp Fusion
(Entering grades 1-6) McKenny Elementary, Olympia
Camp Fusion is an exciting camp that breaks up summer into 3 sessions of fantastic theme-based activities.  Session 1: Operation Passport, Session 2: Survivor: YMCA, and Session 3: Campers vs. Counselors.  Camp Fusion brings together science, movement, and creative arts in a dynamic recreational program.

Arts Alive!
(Entering grades 2-8) Roosevelt Elementary, Olympia
This summer at Arts Alive! features two amazing events at they celebrate their 15th year anniversary.  This summer will find the campers preparing and presenting a musical revue highlighting songs from summers past.  We are also excited to announce the integration of  Lights! Camera! Action! into this program.  The combination of our film camp with our theater camp promises to create a well rounded artistic and technical experience for all campers interested in the “Arts.”

Lights! Camera! Action! @ Arts Alive!
Lights! Camera! Action! is our specialized film camp.  It is now a part of the Arts Alive! experience and offers the tools and techniques for your child to direct, produce, write, and act in a series of short films. This program will culminate with a gala movie premier and the production of a DVD available to all participants.

All Star Camp
(Entering grades 1-6) Chambers Prairie, Lacey
For the sports enthusiast and all kids who look forward to an awesome and active summer, All Star Camp is the camp for you! With engaging staff and a diverse curriculum rich in sport-related activities and interactive games, this camp promises to keep kids on their toes and having fun!

Overnight Camping

Olympic Peninsula Adventure Camp (OPAC)
(Entering grades 5-6)
This awesome week-long camping experience gets an upgrade this year with OPAC: Into the Wild! This new direction will feature activities such as drumming, photography, campfire cooking seminars, and treasure hunting.  Campers will also get the opportunity to go whale watching, explore the shores, hunt for shells and shipwrecks, hike through the rainforest, and dine on the Olympic Peninsula!

Camp Bishop Resident Camp
(Entering grades 3-6)
Come for a week of outdoor excitement and fun at Camp Bishop! Located in the beautiful rural countryside west of Shelton, Camp Bishop has all the outdoor amenities: trails for hiking, a lake for kayaking and swimming, and beautiful Mother Nature! Campers will also enjoy archery, team building exercises, camp fires, and much, much more at Camp Bishop!

Counselor In Training

Counselor in Training Program 2010

Teens 14 to 16 years old work as role models in our youth camp programs. The CITs receive training and hands-on experience while they work and play with kids. Interviews are required. For more information on qualifications, fees, and how to apply, please call Kelli O’Reilly at (360) 451-1756.
