DESCRIPTION:This summer we’re inviting all Active Duty and Retired Veterans to join us in a friendly competition of basketball. Whether you’ve always been a hooper\, new to the game\, play on occasion or just looking to have some competitive fun\, come join us this summer! \nThis July\, Briggs Community YMCA will be hosting our very first Hoops For Troops 3v3 Basketball Tournament catered specifically to military members. Although this event is geared toward Active Duty and Veterans\, any member aged 16+ can join as long as they have at least ONE service member on their team! Members who register will be participating in two days of 3 vs 3 basketball. \nSaturday\, July 8th is pool day\, where teams will compete in round robin games to place themselves on the bracket for Sunday’s competition. Sunday\, July 9th\, teams will compete based upon bracket placement. The winning team will receive their very own Y swag along with a few other awesome prizes! \nRegistration is $60 per team ($20 per teammate\, 1 teammate registers per team) \nTeams will have the opportunity to pick between two divisions: Advanced and Intermediate \nWe hope to see you and your team there!

SUMMARY:Hoops For Troops Tournament: Day 2
DESCRIPTION:This summer we’re inviting all Active Duty and Retired Veterans to join us in a friendly competition of basketball. Whether you’ve always been a hooper\, new to the game\, play on occasion or just looking to have some competitive fun\, come join us this summer! \nThis July\, Briggs Community YMCA will be hosting our very first Hoops For Troops 3v3 Basketball Tournament catered specifically to military members. Although this event is geared toward Active Duty and Veterans\, any member aged 16+ can join as long as they have at least ONE service member on their team! Members who register will be participating in two days of 3 vs 3 basketball. \nSaturday\, July 8th is pool day\, where teams will compete in round robin games to place themselves on the bracket for Sunday’s competition. Sunday\, July 9th\, teams will compete based upon bracket placement. The winning team will receive their very own Y swag along with a few other awesome prizes! \nRegistration is $60 per team ($20 per teammate\, 1 teammate registers per team) \nTeams will have the opportunity to pick between two divisions: Advanced and Intermediate \nWe hope to see you and your team there!

DESCRIPTION:Join a community celebration in support of arts\, culture\, and mental health in our community! \nThe Plum Street YMCA is the proud host of the newest edition to Downtown Olympia’s mural collection. Situated at the entrance to Downtown\, this new piece of public art welcomes guests to our community with a message of hope and love. It also serves as a reminder to residents that we are here for one another – that ours is a community of compassion and care. \nCreated by artist Elisa Del Guidice\, design elements include images unique to our region. The work is also part of a larger\, national project – You Are Not Alone Murals. \nThe event will include an opportunity for attendees to participate in a ZUMBA for Mental Health exhibition\, connect with other community advocates around fostering physical and mental health\, and support local artists. \nEvent Agenda:\n– 3:00 – Art viewing | meet & greet\n– 3:30 – ZUMBA for Mental Health – Guests are welcome to join in or watch the dancing!\n– 4:15 – Remarks & Ribbon Cutting \nProject Partners: \nSouth Sound YMCA has served our community for over 130 years. The Y empowers everyone\, no matter who they are or where they are from\, by ensuring access to resources\, relationships and opportunities for all to learn\, grow and thrive. By bringing together people from different backgrounds\, perspectives and generations\, the Y’s goal is to improve overall health and well-being\, ignite youth empowerment and demonstrate the importance of connections in our community. \nOlympia Artspace Alliance (OAA) is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization established in 2011 to preserve\, develop\, and advocate for affordable live\, work\, and exhibition space for artists. They are committed to creating compensated opportunities for artists in the greater Olympia area and have worked with the City of Olympia for more than a year to design a low-barrier program for artists to install murals in the downtown core. \nOlympia Parking & Business Development Area (PBIA) is Olympia’s business improvement district – a legislated taxation district. The PBIA board is made up of elected business owners from the downtown core\, who work with City staff to recommend and implement plans to enrich downtown.
