The Briggs YMCA will be making repairs and improvements to the parking lot. Parking spots at the Briggs YMCA will be limited August 28-August 30, and the whole facility will be closed September 1-September 8 for maintenance and parking lot repairs. We recommend that you take a look at the Briggs YMCA Parking Lot Project Map to help you prepare and understand where to park the next few days.
While many of the repairs – such as sealing and striping are routine. There will be additional repairs necessary due to root damage from the Cherry trees located in the lot. These repairs include concrete curbing, irrigation, electrical, lighting, and sewer. These additional repairs are being made to ensure people are not injured in our lot.
A key element of this project includes the removal of the Cherry trees and replacement with a more suitable tree species. We have engaged with both forestry professionals and landscape architects to determine the best course of action.
We will miss our Cherry trees and their spring blooms. We chose timing the work to give ample notice to our members, so they may enjoy one final blooming of the trees.
