Terry Liberty and others from the Olympia Wood Workers Guild (OWG) presented South Sound YMCAs Advisory Board Chair, Amy Head, with a plaque and frame (containing a photo of the Briggs YMCA with the former trees in bloom from local photographer Diane Waiste) made from cherry wood sourced from the trees removed from the Briggs parking lot in 2019.
YMCA staff worked with the local Guild to make sure the wood was put to good use and not end up in the landfill. Numerous members of the Guild used the wood in various projects.
A completion of the circle of life and closure for the Kwanzan Cherry trees that used to decorate our parking lot. The plaque and frame can be found in the Conference Room at the Briggs YMCA.
