Teen Programs

Out-of-the-box learning experiences

FROM THE CAPITOL TO CAMP

Build leadership skills. Find your voice. Choose from the cabins at summer camp or the Capitol steps—or do both. At the Y we offer unique and experiential learning opportunities for teens that teach real-world skills.

YOUTH & GOVERNMENT

Go behind the scenes at the Washington State Capitol. Learn about the democratic process and practice civil discourse. Gain confidence and social skills through challenging debates, bill writing and campaigning. Please contact Rob Knowles for more information.

COUNSELOR IN TRAINING (CIT) PROGRAM

Develop counseling and teaching skills by working actively with campers in a range of ages and activities. Find a sense of responsibility, leadership, and services. CIT’s should be available to work at all camp locations during the summer. CIT’s will be selected through an interview process and must complete required training. Please contact Sarah Tromble for more information.

Middle School Sports

The South Sound YMCA is partnering with Tumwater Middle School to bring sports to 6th graders in our community! Tumwater Middle School students can participate in recreational sports led by professional YMCA mentors. We focus on skill development, teamwork, and FUN. A variety of sports are offered throughout the school year.

For more information, contact the youth sports coordinator, Clara Robbins, or the Athletic Director at TMS, Nick Reykdal.

Be part of our team! We have sports for all ages and skill levels. Get your kids involved in fun sports where they can make friends and stay active all year long.
