A statement from President and CEO, Kyle Cronk
In the Y, we are guided by our values: CARING, HONESTY, RESPECT, & RESPONSIBILITY. We believe in our common humanity and that there is more that unites us than divides us. We believe that all people have value and, regardless of how each of us voted in this election, we all have a place here – in our community and in our YMCA.
Over the past weeks and months, communities across our country have been divided. In the coming days, as each of us processes this election there will be hard days. We know that for many of our friends and neighbors, today might be one of those days. Remember that here in the South Sound, there is a place where you belong. You are part of our national YMCA movement and our local Y family.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, think of the tremendous good happening each day in our community. Children are supported during remote learning, neighbors are checking in on one another, and individuals are finding ways to connect and make healthy choices for themselves and their families.
This is our community. We are strong, we are resilient, and I have no doubt that we will come together following this election. Most of all, I hope you are comforted by the fact that you belong here at the Y!
